Third Grade Goes to Lansing

Abby and her squad, preparing to board charter busses. . .
How's it goin', folks.

So, I'm not sure if you remember this or not, but last year the Cannonball and I went down to Lansing on the big, annual Fourth Grade field trip.  Took a day off of work, saw the Michigan Historical Center, the State Capitol Building, etc.  Good times.

Well, this year the school decided that this should be a third grade trip instead. . . which meant Abby got to do it this year.  Kris wanted me to go again this time around, but due to my 8th graders taking the new annual standardized test (the sinister PSAT), I couldn't get the time off.  So she ended up going down instead, and - miraculously - took some pics of her and Abby's time in Lansing.

Check it out. . .

Jackson, dabbing like only a white boy can. . .
All aboard the Hell Bus to Lansing. . .
Unlike last year, Kris and the Third Grade ended up hitting the Michigan Historical Center before the Capitol building.
Who knows what these kids are looking at. . .
Abby and her friend, Allie, in. . . a wigwam?  Is that what these are called?  As a Social Studies teacher, I feel that this is something I should probably know. . .
Hough girls
I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume she's churning butter. . .
In the U.P. mine section of the museum.

Those wheels are frickin' huge.
In the schoolroom. . .
Larkin and Abby

Abby's 'saxophone face' is hilarious.
Abby's class, outside the State Capitol Building. . .
A 'nice' picture. . .
. . . aaaand the normal picture.
On the floor of the Rotunda.  These pictures are nearly shot-for-shot with the (much larger) batch I took on Alayna's field trip last year.   Just sayin'.
An empty legislative chamber?  I can't imagine politicians recess for very long, though.  Not when they have so many important matters to discuss.
That cannon's placement is questionable.
Kris bought Abby a few things at the Historic Center gift shop, just like I did with Alayna the year before.  One of these souvenirs was a leather journal (Abby's HUGE into writing right now.)
Jackson and Abby, on the way back to Midland.  One more State Capitol field trip in the books.
