Eight Point Lake, Pt. VIII

What's up, Internet.

We had another Saturday with gorgeous weather wide open, so we decided to do a quick, day trip (sans-dogs) up to Eight Point Lake (having coordinated it with the Whites again, who - like us - are making a conscious effort to get up there as frequently as possible this summer.)  Leaving Midland in the late morning, we were in suits and out on the water by noon (it only takes like 40-45 minutes to get to the lakehouse from our house, which is pretty awesome.)

Anyway, here's a look at yet another sunny day out on the lake.  Enjoy.

Kris snatches a selfie with the too-cool-for-her-parents teenager.
Jax grabs a fish - probably a dead fish - that he 'found' at the Sandbar.  Because it's Jax.
He couldn't have been more proud of this fish, despite it being absolutely disgusting.
The Cannonball has enough of her cousin's bullshit.
Getting some sun time in on Brian's boat. . .
Brians.
Alayna brought her friend, Lexi, up to the lake this time around.  I neglected to take any video of this round of tubing - after awhile all that tubing footage tends to look the same anyway - and I really, really regretted not doing so.  While out on this particular tubing venture, which was honestly nothing out of the ordinary, Brian hit a wave juuuust right - and not a huge wave by any means - and the result was incredible.  In my twenty-some years of watching people tube on Eight Point Lake - I have never, EVER, seen a tube fly so high out of the water.  The tube itself flew up at least six feet off the water, and the kids were thrown an additional 3 or 4 feet off the tube, sailing through the air at a height that you really had to see to believe.  We couldn't believe no one was hurt, because it was truly the greatest wipe-out I've ever seen up at the lake.  And, of course, it wasn't captured on film.  The travesty of it all ranks right up there with, like, Lincoln's assassination and the destruction of the Library of Alexandria.
Following the near-death experience on the lake,we came inside for some lunchtime snacks, just as Jill rolled in (I forget where she was, Brian came up to the lake separately earlier in the day.)
Drying off
After lunch, we loaded back up into the Whites' boat and headed back over to the Sandbar to hang out - the weather was perfect for it.
Jax was insistent about bringing out a fishing net so he could catch fish down at the Sandbar. . . you know, 'cause that's feasible.
Bobbing in the lake - the new favorite past time for teens.  These three were swimming out in the deeper water behind Brian's boat, when suddenly Dad began to approach in his pontoon. I may have shouted at the kids that they were about to get run over by their neglectful grandfather, so that's why Abby has that 'oh shit' look on her face. . .
Making sure dad's boat is securely anchored in place.
Clearly we weren't the only folks on the lake hoping to take advantage of the weather up at the Sandbar. . .
Lots of rough-housing in the water this time around, the kids were rambunctious.
Adults, not so much.
After awhile down at the Sandbar, the kids began to get funned out in the water, so we pulled them back into the boat and set off back to the lakehouse.
Couple of old-ass moms, trying to get a selfie in.
Captain at the helm.
Another one of Cindy's carchuterie boards.
Dad and Brian.  Everyone kinda hung around and relaxed down by the lake throughout the late afternoon as dinner approached.
Kris and Jill attempt to get some more sun.
Abby occupied herself off the back-end of Brian's boat.
After Kris and Jill and gotten their fill of it, Alayna and Lexi commandeered the lily pad. . .
The neighbors are always pretty cool with letting the kids play on their pontoon boat
After dinner, Dad offered to take everyone around the lake one more time on a not-quite-sunset-yet cruise, before everyone had to pack up and head home.  We had to utilize the neighbors' dock to board folks because the water level up at the lake right now, after weeks of little to no rain, was so low that it was difficult to get the boat into our hoist.
As always, more pics of folks sitting around on a pontoon. . .
In two or three more hours, that's going to be an awesome sunset.
The old cove.
Coming back to the eastern side of the lake.
Brian got to use one of these poles to help get us closer to the dock.  Like harpooning a whale.
After our pontoon ride, we gathered up all the crap we had brought up with us, said our goodbyes to the folks and the Whites, and set off back to Midland.  All in all, a great day trip with perfect weather; we're hoping that our next trip up here - and our last of the summer, being Labor Day - is just as nice.
