Pumpkins, Parents, and Princesses: Part II

Sheraton Vistana Villages
Round Two, here we go.

Dad and Cindy arrived in the afternoon, so after a short time spent killing time back at my house, awaiting their room to become available for check-in, they settled into their hotel and in the evening Kris and I took the girls over to their resort.

Once again, they decided to stay in a suite at the Sheraton Vistana Villages - one of those timeshare joints that you can utilize as a hotel.  This evening they had a whole bunch of crap going on at their hotel, and they even opted to have the girls stay the night at their place for the weekend (which was awesome for us.)

Check it out:

Dad and Cindy's room
Cindy brought them a bunch of colored leaves from Michigan with her to show the girls, as living in Florida and never having experienced a Michigan Autumn, they didn't realize leaves could change colors. . . which is really, really depressing when you think about it.
Happy.
Happy.
Happy.
The girls see their new princess dresses for the first time. . .
Abby wanted a Merida (Brave) dress, while Alayna requested an Aurura (Sleeping Beauty) dress.
After the dress ordering and having gorged ourselves on pizza for dinner, we took the girls out to check out the resort's evening activities. . .
The had this one part of the pool area set up for little kids to dance and play with hula-hoops, which our kids had never played with before (I honestly didn't realize they still made them.)  They also had a DJ there who was playing all sorts of ridiculously horrible music.
After a few tries, Alayna finally got the hang of it (check out the old hippie couple dancing in the background - those were the weirdest people I've seen in a long, long time.)
Abby never really got the hang of hula-hoops.  Not surprisingly.
Dad and Cindy bought these floating lantern thing for the kids to light up and then send into the sky.
They were made of this paper-machete crap that was about as thick as tissue paper.  I had my doubts these things would fly. . .
Dad preps Abby's lantern for flight. . .
Some lady was nice enough to help me prep Alayna's lantern, as the fire coil threatened to engulf the entire lantern in flames. . .
I guess the kids were supposed to make a wish and then set the lantern off into the air.  Alayna wished for a pumpkin, while Abby wished for a pony.
You have to look closely towards the top right of the picture, but you can see Alayna's lantern sailing off into the night sky. . . after a brief near-death experience as it almost plummeted into the resort pool.  So it turns out Alayna's going to get a pumpkin. . .
Watching Alayna's lantern fly away
Fortunately, Abby's lantern crashed and burned, and with that, her dreams of owning a pony.   This was good news for us, as I wasn't about to buy the kid a damn pony.
Better luck next time, kid.
The resort was nice enough to offer us a free replacement lantern, and Dad and Cindy decided to carry it to a nearby bridge to set it off. . .
Due to the strong winds that night, the balloon - and Abby's dreams of owning a pony - ended up catching fire and crashing into one of the resort ponds.
The hotel's pretty bitchin' pool.
Heading back to the room
Getting ready for a sleep-over at Papa and Nana's hotel. . .

More to come - stay tuned.
